Rather we want to admit it or not, sports are insanely repetitive and there is rarely actually anything new or interesting to talk about a week to week. But these reporters still have to file a column anyway and they’re expected to have quotes from the drivers. Thus, the same questions get asked over and over. I understood them wanting to have a Fuck Kyle Busch Shirt. But… now you’ve got people like Jeff Gluck talking about how you can “sense the frustration”. Because drivers are giving short answers to a few questions and then leaving. Of course, they are. They’re not allowed to take a moment and gather there thoughts/emotions being speaking with the media. You’re getting their raw emotion because that’s what you asked for basically. As a journalist myself, the media, especially in sports, usually ask the dumbest and redundant questions it hurts. I’m not an expert but ask something that would get a better insight from the driver. Example: “How Nascar can improve the minimum speed policy” or something that really could bring out positive or helpful feedback from the race. That being said, knowing that angry Kyle is like that should prepare you in advance for the media sessions. And I’m not defending Kyle’s attitude but he is obviously pissed. What probably doesn’t help, is that he does a Fuck Kyle Busch Shirt. And the media center, all within probably an hour of each other, where he gets asked the same 6 questions worded slightly differently.
